Cytomate changes name to CytoSMART

In 2012 Joffry Maltha and Jan Willem van Bree launched their company, Cytomate. A company that built a an innovative live cell imaging device sharing the same Cytomate name.

This smart cell culture monitor was built to use within an incubator. This device was so revolutionary because up until that day, it was only possible to monitor cell growth with an expensive and complicated microscope setup, or cell growth could be monitored by taking the cells out of the incubator. Nowadays, many laboratories use our product to monitor their cells.

In the following years we had a lot of requests from our customers to build other smart devices for cell culture research. So, we start working on a smart automated cell counter and an easy 96-well plate scanner. Nowadays, we have three smart products for cell culture work, but we are working on more revolutionary, easy to use and affordable products. Our key focus is to build affordable and innovative devices. Smart is in our nature. The algorithm, the outcome and the usability has to be smart. Therefore, in September 2016 we changed our name from Cytomate to CytoSMART. A smart company that builds innovative equipment for life science.
