Dynamic SARS-CoV-2 emergence algorithm for rationally-designed logical next-generation vaccines

In this study, the authors developed an algorithm for monitoring the evolution of SARS-CoV-2 in the context of vaccines and monoclonal antibodies by analyzing prevalence data and determining exponential emergence of amino acid substitutions and lineages. The CytoSMART Lux2 was used to monitor the occurrence of viral cytopathic effect (CPE) in VeroE6 cells, allowing to establish growth kinetics of SARS-CoV-2 isolates. All in all, the findings of this study have relevance to the future of tracking SARS-CoV-2 and of SARS-CoV-2 vaccine development.
